Trails
March was a mix of extreme cold and warm days. Hopefully the cold is now banished for a few months and I'll soon be able to visit some of the lovely paths at our local park.
Last year, I was able to walk along some of the paths for the first time in nine years. I needed my cane and my pace was slow, but nothing could diminish the pleasure of walking through the trees next to the water.
This year, I hope to push the envelope a bit further. I have always loved outdoor concerts, but crowded spots can be difficult due to my impaired balance. There are a number of musical events throughout the summer including some at the park. While well-attended, they are not packed and folks here seem to be more considerate than those I've encountered in some other locations.
Another trail I'd like to try is actually a trail of garage sales that stretch for miles. Some folks make it a vacation and spend a couple weeks at it. I guess you can find everything from antiques, to building supplies to a six string bass for sale. I can't see myself shopping for that long, but it would be fun to try it for a day. A great chance to enjoy sun and scenery, as well as a chance to practice balance skills in a crowd.
