Raccoons

You hear a lot of warnings about getting too close to these little masked bandits, but there is no denying their cuteness.

Cows

It's been decades since I lived on a farm, but I still think back fondly to those days.  I had to travel to a laser center earlier this week for cataract surgery.  It was a pretty drive and herds of cows dotted most every landscape.  The return drive was even more enjoyable, since I could see everything far better.

A Long Wait

I don't know them.  I think I'll just wait until they leave.

Mountain Goat

Resting peacefully amidst rocky terrain comes naturally to these guys.

A Bit Pensive

Sad?  Thoughtful?  Or having a bad hair day?  I’m not sure, but this little simian doesn’t look too happy.

A Taxing Situation

Hopefully your taxes are filed and perhaps you've even received a refund.  I'm guessing that’s not the case for this poor monkey!

First Impressions

You can't judge a book by its cover?  Maybe not, but it’s a rare dog (or human), who can disregard that first impression.

A Clever Thief

Over the years, our squirrels have provided a lot of low cost entertainment.   While our feathered friends  haven't appreciated their adeptness in snatching seed from the bird feeder, I thoroughly enjoy the antics of these clever little thieves.   A friend now purchases special ears of corn designed just for feeding the squirrels and a quick internet search turned up dozens of squirrel feeders.  I’ve no plans to buy one, however.  I think they get a bit of a thrill from stealing it out of the bird feeder.  They’re a bit like our dog, who loves to swipe food from the cats’ dishes, but displays little interest, when we put the same food in his own bowl.

Cat Alert?

Does he sense three cats watching him through the french doors?

A Bit Of Lip

Most days, it's pretty easy to see what my cats' expressions are saying.  A couple of my cats, however, have favored this exposed gum expression, which has always left me wondering just what they were trying to say.

"Sure,  I'd like to have fresher breath and whiter teeth, but I'm not giving up my cigarettes and tuna."

"It's pretty pointed, but is it enough to earn me the lead role in Vampire Cat?"

"That food stinks!  Mom's been trying to hide the vitamin supplements again."

What does this expression say to you?  Let a comment and let me know.

I'm joining Feline Friday today, a fun meme hosted by Burnt Food Dude. Feel free to join the fun and/or check out other entries.

Our Border Collie

It’s hard to believe that it’s been eleven years since my daughter brought home a little black and white ball of fluff that promptly curled up next to my leg and fell asleep.  Once he got rested from his three hour car ride to our home, we rarely saw him sleeping.   He’s slowed down a bit in the last couple of years, but he is still an energetic and enthusiastic dog, who is always ready for a game of fetch.

Child's Play

Catch!

Watching the first year of a child’s life, you can’t help but appreciate the huge amount of things that they learn.  For the first few years, play is a child’s primary learning tool.    The best learning toys are simple and engage the imagination.  They can also be inexpensive or even free, like the ever-popular cardboard box.

Piggy Olympics

I'm a big fan of piggies, so couldn't resist this pic.  Looks as if the Piggy Olympic judges will have to deduct points for this first guy, as his feet didn't clear the hurdle.  The second one looks as though he will make it.

Check out the Awww.Mondays blog for more great pics that are sure to make you smile.
